Tuesday 28th March, 2017. Representatives from the Austrian Trade Delegation, led by Ms. Nella Hengstler paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah.

Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Amoako-Attah commended the Austrian Government for the many years of bilateral cooperation between the two countries particularly investments in the area of infrastructure development.

He acknowledged the Austrian government assistance in the rehabilitation of the Adome Bridge and other bridges in the country, as well as the solar street lighting project. Hon. Minister assured the delegation of the Ministry’s continuous working relationship with the Austrian Government.

On her part, Ms. Nella Hengstler noted that plans for the second phase of the solar street lighting project were far advance. They are therefore counting on the support of the Ministry for the finalization of the agreements. She further noted that the Austrian government is in the process of presenting a proposal for the construction of two bridges to replace the existing bridges in Yapei and Buipe and a new bridge in Daboya, all in the Northern Region. The Austrian Trade Delegation pledged continuous collaboration with the Ministry.

Other members of the delegation were Mr. Jurgen Tarmann, Mr. Pierre Prunis and Mr. Danny Mainoo. Also present at the meeting were Ing. Godwin Brocke, Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ing. Michael Abbey, Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Highways Authority, Ing. Alhaji Abass Awolu, Director, Department of Urban Roads, Ing. Francis Digber, Director, Department of Feeder Roads and other officials from the Ministry. END
